Historical
– The Noble Family of Beaucaire (eldest branch) stayed there until 1640.
– The Noble Family of Bressolles until 1688.
– Jean Debouis, astonishing character, merchant-farmer, who knew how to achieve the height of fortune. He had the main residence of the castle rebuilt from 1688 to 1693 in the Louis XIII style (never finished) while retaining its keep: wide and high round tower with corbelled machicolations, and later a high pointed roof: typical architecture of the Renaissance in Bourbonnais (today to be rebuilt as it was still in 1980).
– The Collason Family: from the Empire until 1903.
– The Perrin family, whose numerous misfortunes from 1913 onwards gradually led to the ruin of the property.
– The current Owners, since 1979, have launched major works, unfortunately all tainted by serious defects in a cascade, which oblige them to have everything redone, little by little, taking into account the costs.
The stone fortified castle was rebuilt not far from its ancient, very well preserved feudal mound “à platea”. It is remarkable for its keep: a large and high round tower from the 13th and 15th centuries, and a set of reconstructions from the 17th century, all well integrated into a beautiful dominant site with vast views.
It is the starting point for many walking paths in the countryside.
The squire will be able to share with you his passion for the history of this site.
